What is botox?
Botox is short for Botulinum Toxin which is a neurotoxin that can be injected via a needle. The primary purpose of using Botox is to help relax muscles in and around your face.
BOTOX is a safe, painless procedure that improves facial features and restores plumpness of the skin. It visibly reduces fine lines and wrinkles, making your face look and feel young in a matter of minutes.
Botox works by helping to relax the muscles in your face. But, how does this actually work? Botox injections use a protein that helps to stop muscle contractions. It can be used anywhere on your face, but the common areas are your forehead and between your eyebrows. In many people, the muscles between your brows will always be contracted to the point where you get whats known as the ‘11’.
This refers to the two lines between your eyebrows that end up permanently there as a result of persistent frowning. With these anti-wrinkle injections, you can get rid of them for good.
Botox has an excellent record of safety and efficacy. While Botulinum itself is toxic, it is harmless if administered properly and in the right amounts. Just make sure your doctor is among the top providers of Botox in your region. Remember, the product is only as good as the provider.
Most people are sceptical when it comes to Botox injections. However, many studies and reports prove these injections are a viable anti-wrinkle treatment. When used regularly, they can help stop wrinkles from appearing, and delay the natural signs of ageing. We’re one of the few clinics in Clacton-on-Sea that provides this treatment, so make sure you come to us if you want the best wrinkle treatments that actually work!
It’s important to know that Botox isn’t a permanent treatment. It won’t last forever, so you’ll need to come back for future treatments if you want to keep up the results. Typically, people that come to our Botox clinic in Clacton will see that their injections last for anywhere between 3 to 4 months.
This is for anti-wrinkle treatments, if you’re getting Botox to stop sweating, then the effects tend to last for 6 months.
It’s vital that you take care of yourself after the treatment to ensure you see the benefits of your injections. When patients undergo anti-wrinkle injections at our skin clinic, we usually advise that they avoid strenuous activities for 24 hours afterwards. That’s the only thing to be wary of, you can even put makeup or face cream on immediately after if you wish.
We also want to ensure that everything is working well and that you’re getting along fine in the weeks after the injections. As such, we will book you in for a free follow-up appointment to check how everything is progressing. If you want, you can even schedule another injection for 4 months after the initial treatment too.
In the UK, Botox varies in price depending on where you go and who you see. However, it’s usually priced based on treatment areas. These are the areas that you’ll receive the injections. At our clinic in Clacton, we charge from £190 for anti-wrinkle injections. If you want Botox to combat excessive sweating, then our prices start from £390.

Typically, there are a few common side effects that may occur after Botox injections. But, you don’t have to worry as they’re usually very mild and will go away fairly quickly. It’s possible there will be a bit of swelling or redness where the injection was administered. This will normally go away within 10 minutes, it’s just your skins natural reaction to a needle. In very rare cases there are small bruises, but they fade quickly as well.
The short answer is that they are not. Fillers are used to ‘fill’ wrinkles or facial lines that are visible even when your face is at rest. Filler adds more volume to the area, so it gives the impression of more plumpness.
